Let's do the hotdog dance! as quoted by dear audrey.

Jukebox: Swedish House Mafia - Save The World

Can it be?
Am  I really writing a journal entry right after work?

It must have been months since I been able to muster enough energy after each 6.5-7 hour day to do so.

I've really forgotten how much easier substituting in high school is... less noise, less strength needed, less tempers tested.

but is this necessarily better then elementary?  Nahh, definitely not.

I was fortunate this year to have found a job after graduation allowing for a short duration of stay time... even luckier to have landed a long-term subbing assignment just a few months in.

Regular subbing has its perks and pits. It's definitely great to be able to pick up assignments at my own convenience while allowing me a crash course in all grade levels. However it's essentially a lone man's journey. No connections, no 'home campus', and no drama.  :P

Can you guess which signs I made?!

When I accepted the Long-Term subbing assignment, I was looking forward to making connections with a static group of students and rest of staff. Little did I know that witnessing the impressive growth of kids would be surpass my anticipation of the "connection" factor.

Four months may seem like nothing, but it's definitely long enough to see social and academic growth working with 3-5 years old in their special ed programs. (Their's not mine :X) With peer role models and gentle but consistent discipline progress is usually seen. Autistic kids,  including high functioning ones all need to be dealt with in their own special way. Once you find their "switch', a gentle nudging at appropriate times can help them blossom.

Two of our kids... made sure to hide their face from the pic ;)

Take one kid for example.

He may seem like he has a hard time interacting with adults and children, but just by turning on any sort of multimedia, he will begin to engage, singalong and also talk with all of us in intelligible sentences.  We take this opportunity to converse, praise and make eyecontact with him. Connections when his mind is "open" can help reassure him of our friendship and foster his social skills in the long run.

Bet you didn't know he's the only four year old in our class that can read too!

Each step we see is a celebration.  I had forgotten how hard it is to learn how to handle scissors.  Something so second-natured (to us now) such as holding the scissors, cutting along a line or curve needs to be worked on tediously in our youth.   It was really impossible to comprehend until I re-witnessed the process.

My experiences in this long term substitute position has allowed me to appreciate the fertilizer to the seeds our future orchards. primary school teachers! Class time is only a minute percentage of a teacher's job. The prep and cleanup is excessive.

Usually after the first half of the day, I'd physically feel like I'd been working for a full day already, but it is definitely worth it. Time passes very quickly because you are constantly on your toes in a clamorous room...

and of course the flowers helped too.
My first flowers everrrr =)

From the kids during teacher appreciation week!

I was never a flower person, but it's a pretty gratifying experience to have kids bring you flowers.  Please borrow your friend's babies, nieces or nephews and try it yourself.

Can figure out which child wrote me that card :)
pretty good writing for a 4 year old!

Adorable handmade clipboard the PTA gave each of us that week

Kids say the funniest things too... quotes perfect for blog titles ;).

Tuesday was my last day long term subbing. The IBI and two other teachers in my room surprised me with a mini send-off party!

Venue: Extravagant preschool classroom. A circle time table adorned with an assortment of chairs ranging from the infamous red 'time-out seat' to the (highly sought after) 'teacher's swively'.

Garnish: a bouquet! all for meeeeee :D

Topic of convo: kids.

I can now go on forever talking about my experiences through this long term assignment... but that would be soporific... so  rejoyce... because here is a mini concluding collage.

Towards the end of my term I spoke with the principal who had a permanent position lined up that I can possibly begin the following day.  However, it would require a summer and following fall commitment. Not wanting to keep others hanging with personal future plans, I reluctantly turned down the opportunity.

Ta Ta! So back to being itinerate with my regular subbing...

Easter Egg Hunt from earlier this year.

ok no more sappiness about little kids.

Lol because I just got notice that I'll be subbing as a child development center teacher tomorrow.

Little kids here I come again!

Building a Mystery

You wear sandals in the snow
And a smile that won't wash away
Can you look out the window
Without your shadow getting in the way?

Yeah you're working
Building a mystery
And choosing so carefully

I reformatted my ipod! So let's say if I loved my ipod before, now I LOVE x 10394832 x ♥♥!!! With the google calenders synced, it now functions like my lil electronic organizer! doo doo. Found the amazing song above through the Pandora App. I think it's fairly pertinent my (minor) state of ambivalence right now.

Speaking of which... isn't this 粽子 sooo cute? hehe. Size comparison to ipod touch.

Here's an astrological report:  There will be two moons on Aug 27, 2010.  Sooo... make two wishes that night ;)

R.I.P. mouse. you have been kind to withstand my constant torture :[

I have so much to do these next five  months it is kind of insane :P Wrote them all down and it took one whole page.... times new roman, font 12. NO double spacing.  BLAH I cannot wait until this time one year later. If by then I have completed and everything on my list I will seriously reward myself with a big fat  pat on the back.

So, it was finally time to say R.I.P to my pink mouse.  It was a good 3 years, withstood many gina drops, and outlived a laptop. So sad. I think it probably would have lasted longer if I didn't accidentally bang it against the wall when I grabbed the mouse by just the cord.  I really liked the cord wrap around button function... so useful, and wouldn't get tangled in my purse. Boo.

So I was determined to find a cute computer mouse online since they last pretty long anyway.  I don't understand why there are Hello Kitty ones but no Totoro ones. Wouldn't it be the cutest thing if they made like the mouse a totoro body? It's around the same shape too. Anyway, I found a lot of totoro mouse PADS instead. Look how cute these are:

heheeeee... These would be a cute addition to my ever growing totoro collection. Too bad I think mouse pads are an annoying waste of space.

In other news, I REALLY think I tanned because after laquering up on a shiny green gloss today, I noticed that my hands looked a very unpleasant neon.  Whyyyy... Didn't really like this polish anyway.

So anyway, here's the lowdown.
BRAND: Klean Color
PRICE: super cheap $2
COLOR: Silky Bamboo (silky sheen)
SMELL: OK. (aka not good)
COATS:  2 Coats probably needed. honestly, the consistancy is kind of streaky no matter how good your painting skills are. Drys semi-slow.
LASTING POWER:  without top coat about 2 weeks... semi chipping by then. I guess the lasting power is not THAT bad then.
FINAL RATING: 3/5  ehhh..

i love poo... h

No vitamin D supplements needed today. I got a good fat dose at disneyland.  And tanned..  a lot :O

I even took the necessary precautions. AKA.. my trusty disneyworld safari hat, ridiculously huge sunscreen sunglasses, and close toed shoes. I honestly have not worn "shoes" in over 2 years for leisure.  As in proper shoes... that need socks. (flats excluded)  and surprise surprise, it was the first time my feet didn't hurt after hours of standing and walking. hrmm perhaps tis a sign? Anyway, the picture on the right is me pre-tan. The jumping one is after. haha burnt.

So, this was the first time we did not watch Fantasmic at night. Instead, we went to Tomorrowland instead for their Nemo ride. I noticed they had this lil outdoor clubb-y environment where Power 106 was DJ-ing.  A good amount of kids/adults were dancing and jumping near the outdoor stage.  They had top hits blasting (censored obviously)... but the songs were the same. I forgot what exactly was playing, but it was definitely popular? Suddenly I hear these kids singing the lyrics word by word. They knew it all by heart except... censors were not included. When I turned around, I couldn't help but notice that the owners of these voices were around  seven years old! WTH! They knew like every line of the lyric. LOL Impressive-lyyy shocking. Oh Gawd.. when did I become so mature minded. Snap out! Snap Out.

Anyway, I think Disney has been catching up in terms of their culinary innovations. I saw some extremely cute candied apples at their bakery! Price wasn't bad either...

The Jumping pic. Anyway, it would be a classic if the castle in the jumping picture showed up.  It's there I promise. My outfit was outrageous and my face was as naked as hell. But I didn't care, it was as hot as a toaster oven in Anaheim. I'm so dark now. poo..h..

(this kind of pooh)

i love poo .... h :)

NOM NOM phones. (not the truck)

isn’t this the CUTEST phone EVER?!!

SOOO CUTE!  Little Chocolate bars! Gosh… nomnom… they even have the Strawberry melty kind. I WANT! But then I went online to see how much it is. Not $200, not $300… NOT EVEN $500. IT IS A WHOPPING $1790. yess for this 3 inches of whopping waterproof goodness XD

I am so stupid! How in this crazy world did I not think all google accounts would be linked?!   Of course Google wouldn't let a diligently developed product go to waste. I guess I need to think more clear in the future, and watch my own actions meticulously when I am stressed and tired... because those are the times I usually do the dumbest and brashest things.

Nail Color and What's In My Purse

Had a bit of a nervous breakdown today right after I took my practice exam... but not too bad though. I went on aim put "FML." as my status and then proceeded to shower away my worries.  nothing a warm, refreshing shower can't cure.

So yesterday I found out how much of a nailpolish addict I was to the point that I recognized my friends nailpolish from her... get this... FACEBOOK PICTURE. lol.. oh gosh.

Mixed a bit of the Milani Blue (Cyberspace) with a Rosy Pink nailpolish as undertone.  Result is gorgeous, take a look.  I guess it can kind of substitute for the Digital-Pink Milani Holographic that I ended up not buying.

I honestly don't know the brand of the pink nailpolish I used underneath, its a matte dark rose color. The bottle is absolutely brandless... I think I got it in a set. But once I figure it out I'll post it up. The middle finger has 2 layers of Milani as topcoat, whereas the rest all just have one. What is cool about this mix is that the color looks different depending on your lighting... savvy for those of you that change fav colors based on moods.

now for an updated what's in my purse...

1. Purse, I like it because it stands up right... purses that slouch to a side gets me really frustrated beacause it's SO HARD to see what you have in it.
2. Wallet (I like mine thin and coin free! See 3)
3. I think this is THE cutest coinholder Because It has a little analog clock on it!  I can't stand loose change in my wallet because I feel it is really unsanitary and makes the wallet unnecessarily fat. This coin purse solves my problems!
4. Bus Schedule... no car... bus... no more needed to be said.
5. Contact drops for contact wearers!! I wanna reward myself with lasik once I get into school.
6. Mini Mirror/ Brown Shadow Pallet
7. The makeup bag that came with the TBS Tea Tree Oil Mini Set.  I don't carry much makeup so this size is perfect for me.
8. Portable Purse Hook! Soo useful for resturants.. I think I'll blog about this in another entry
9. Cheap $8 Oversized Sunglasses from Charlottes Russe.  I have this thing with Oversize sunglasses. I think mini frames are really taky.  and I totally don't know if this is medically true but I feel that the sunglasses provide spf for the skin that it covers as well?  Lol I might be completely wrong.
10. Sephora Lipgloss M bought me :) Shade: Rosy tint. It smells soo yummy. A bit sticky, but I still love it.
12. Victoria Secret Hand sanitizer.. "Pure Seduction". I use this EVERY SINGLE DAY.. it smells amazing and makes the germaphobic me happy. It's also really hilarious when guys need to use it.
13. heaphones for my ipod! 'nuff said
14. Flashcards to study -___- le sigh
15.  Pouch to put my random stuff. I love organizing my stuff... and I can't stand purses that have it's contents littered throughout the bottom.. I need an organizer bag and this one (where I got as a GWP at Clinique) is perfect because it's super light and cute.... also in my fav color too.
16/17. Cellphone and cellphone sock. Samsung U900. This is my love and hate.  I'll explain in a future entry.
20. Cute sparkly purple utility knife from Claires. SOO useful for when I need to use scissors or a knife to cut something.  Theres a useless toothpick as well.. Although the tweezers come in handy too. I left these in my purse one time by accident while going through airport security and I was so said they made me throw it away.  (well... obviously though :P) So I bought several the next time I saw them. I looked like such a teeny bopper.
21. My planner
22. Notebook
23. Key's and USB cord.  Now I live at home.. I don't have my own apartments keys anymore :(

Wow I didn't even notice I had so many things, in my purse.... 23?!!  And that's not counting the random candies an Junk I put in.  Although I'm pretty proud that I don't keep a lot of makeup in it though.. just necessities. Oh.. I forgot I usually would have Mac Blot or some blotting papers. :)  But really, the organizational bags makes everything so much more compact. See:

day 11: it's all about self restraint [26]

sleep4 wake 1020
morning fix: tto ton w/ cotton pad

FROM NOW ON I AM WAKING UP AT 6AM EACH DAY UNTIL TDAY.

NOTHING UNTIL 10 AM.
(UNLESS SOMETHING WAS DUE THE NIGHT BEFORE.)

found an old picture I took during sophomore year of college of "what's in my purse"
not toooo much has changed.

I'll post an updated one soon...
